In light of the COVID-19 pandemic and its increasing spread, the IAML Board and the Organizing Committee of the IAML Congress 2020 have decided to postpone the Congress in Prague to 2021 (new dates will be announced soon).
This has not been an easy decision to make. We were very excited to welcome everyone to Prague with a rich professional programme and an exciting series of accompanying events. But now our priorities are focused on the safety of all of us and our loved ones. We sympathize with all our colleagues in different parts of the world who are experiencing a very difficult time.
The Organizing Committee in Stellenbosch, South Africa, has also agreed to postpone the IAML Congress originally planned for next year. This will now take place on 19-24 June 2022. We are very grateful for their quick and supportive response.
We are aware that some colleagues had already made travel plans and we have made this decision as quickly as possible in the hope that they are able to recover at least some of the costs incurred. Registration fees that have already been paid will be refunded by the Organizing Committee, during April (for detailed information please ask email@example.com).
The IAML Board will report back to all members with more details about our activity in the coming months.
Meanwhile we wish you the very best of health and look forward to welcoming you to Prague in 2021.

Congress IAML, Prague, 19 - 24 July 2020!
Welcome to Congress IAML, Prague, 19 - 24 July 2020!
It is our great pleasure to invite you to attend the annual congress of the International Association of Music Libraries, Archives and Documentation Centres (IAML).
The main congress organiser is the Czech national branch of the IAML in cooperation with the Municipal Library of Prague and the National Library of the Czech Republic. The IAML Congress will be held in Prague for the second time. The first Prague congress took place in 1991, two years after the so-called Velvet Revolution. It was organised by the Czechoslovak national branch of the IAML.
The main congress venues are located in the Municipal Library of Prague, which houses one of the largest music libraries in the Czech Republic. The other meetings will be held at the nearby National Library, specifically in the Mirror Chapel. The program includes visits to a number of Prague institutions associated with music and music-related materials such as the Czech Museum of Music (which houses rare historical sources and a wonderful collection of musical instruments), the Smetana Museum (which takes care of Bedřich Smetana´s legacy and everything related to his life), the Library of the Music and Dance Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts (which provides music materials to its students), the Antonín Dvořák Museum (which provides sources on the life and work of the famous composer) and the Bohuslav Martinů Institute in Prague and its library, one of the youngest music documentation centres in the city.
You will have the opportunity to visit the most spectacular art nouveau structure in Prague, the Municipal House, and its famous Smetana Hall, which will be the venue for the farewell dinner of the IAML Congress.
Trips to Brno and Ostrava are planned after the conclusion of the congress. Both cities boast major music libraries and a lively and intense musical life.
We are looking forward to seeing you in Prague!
